Enriching Lives Through the Arts
The Arts Society Ashtead
Our Society is an arts appreciation society founded in 1982 and now has around 275 members. It is one of 375 such societies in the UK which are themselves members of The Arts Society, an umbrella organisation supporting its members and lobbying for a greater awareness and appreciation of the Arts in all their forms. The Arts Society also has a growing number of member societies outside the UK.
Our venue is Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, Woodfield Lane, Ashtead, KT21 2BE. We meet on the third Tuesday morning of the month at 10.30 am (doors open at 9.30 am with coffee tea and biscuits available), save for August when we have no regular meeting, and December, when we have a festive dinner followed by a seasonally flavoured lecture.
Our monthly speakers are nationally renowned experts who share their specialist knowledge of the Arts in a stimulating and entertaining way. Our programme encompasses a wide range of subjects such as fine art, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, archaeology, performing arts and many others. As you can see elsewhere on this site, we also have Special Interest events when we take time to explore a topic in depth in the company of a leading expert.
Our Visits cover galleries, museums, historic houses and gardens located within a couple of hours of Ashtead, whilst our Tours take us farther afield both in the UK and abroad, typically for 4 or 5 nights.

ABOUT THE AREA
east surrey area
Administratively, our Society is part of the The Arts Society East Surrey Area. Across East Surrey from Horsley in the west to Limpsfield in the east and from Claremont and Oxshott in the north to Dorking, Betchworth and Reigate in the south, the Area is made up of 14 Societies and almost 4,000 members. Each Society is different, some meet in theatres, some in local halls, some in parish churches, but all of them share a curiosity and a passion for the arts.
